For this weeks lately, links, and likes…
We’ve been at it a while! Always on the go. Just like everyone else – I know. For us though, we needed to get away, get a plan for the remainder of the year, and just simply relax.
We did just that. Check out this cool, quiet, secluded DOME we stayed in, only 45 minutes away from Lawrence. We stayed for 3 nights and 4 days.
They had a pond on their land and we spent time in the sunshine by the water, talking, praying, and reading the bible. We then wrote down our desires for the rest of the year. It was so refreshing- I feel motivated to continue working hard with set intentions on the things we desire and feel lead to pursue yet, comfortable if the plans may change.
Riley and I don’t want to poorly manage the things we are responsible for, so planning seems very reasonable to us. However, may God direct our steps in ways that matter…
The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. Proverbs 16:9
This time was really helpful for me. I thrive with schedules and like to see goals set before me. It helped me weed out the unnecessary things in life. Also, planning with Riley and not just alone allowed us to see a vision for our family and not just as individuals. I was really encouraged by some of Riley’s desires for his work and now feel better equipped to encourage him.
We’re ready for you, The Next 6 Months!
This article is Awe-some! Real Men Love Strong Women
Here, read the intro. It’s enough to make you want to read it.
Whether a woman is “intimidating” is a factor of male perception, not female personality. Do we want women to be less intimidating? That’s a question to be put to men who experience them as such, and we can only wait for such men to grow. The real question we need to ask is: Do we want women to be weak? And the answer must forever be, on the basis of Scripture, “May it never be.”
Strong women are as vital as strong men to God’s purpose in the church.
Of course, I’m all about strong women – I mean, I Crossfit ;).
No, not even that kind of strength. But, really. Even though we are helpers to our leader men in the church and our marriage, it doesn’t mean we need to be weak. This article lays out exactly why we are to be strong women through what the bible says. Read up and be encouraged!
My dear friend, Joany, shared with my this Lose it app that I’m really liking.
I have to say first off that I don’t agree with the calorie counting purpose of this app. I’m sure you are thinking that’s funny, because that pretty much is the sole purpose of this app.
However, don’t be fooled. It also charts and tracks your nutrition. I love this. I was wanting to know exactly how much off my ratio of protein, fat, and carbs were. I was very content with my fat percentage, however, I was finding that my protein was pretty low. I’ve since increased to nearly 80g a day and am feeling a lot more energized.
Seems silly of me to not be getting the protein I need. Crossfit works my muscles in ways I need that protein for repair; right?
That was an obvious one, Margo.
Funny how a simple tracking system can solve some seemingly big problems. I don’t know if I’ll keep up with this app. For now, I am still with it. Since I know and have experienced how nutrition and excessive seamlessly correlate, I’d like to have record of my food intake for weeks I’m feeling weak, bloated, or just off track to look back to.
Whew, I just threw out my opinion on some hot topics in the nutrition world. Be nice, alright? What are your thoughts on counting calories and how much saturated fat should you eat?
