Hello friends! Here’s a change for you: If you look up at the top of the post (at least at the time of writing this it’s at the top), you’ll see something that’s never been there before — an author byline. Further, you’ll see it says this post isn’t from Margo; it’s from Riley (if you’re new to this, I’m her husband). So, howdy!
Why the change? Well, we’ve been discussing this for a while and thought the start of the year was a good time to lean into some ideas and plans for the site. So, I’m going to share them with you.
Before you fret though, don’t worry, the site is still very much By Manna by Margo. I’m not going to be filling it with business, marketing, and productivity posts. But, lifestyle posts… I may be jumping in from time to time with some of those going forward!
See, as many of you know, I spent years nagging Margo to start a blog. I built her a few of them before she finally came up with this idea and it took off. We’ve been really encouraged by many of you telling her you enjoy it and think it’s great. You’ve even expressed how you think it “could really be something”, and, well, I think so too.
So, we’ve been pondering stuff, and we’re going to try some new things this year…
More Content For The Browsing…
More lifestyle posts. More recipes. More… well, I’ll explain this first…
If you know us, you know I’ve not only been chief taste tester of the recipes, but also chief editor of the words. Writing is my first and main love of all crafts. So I’ve actually been involved with this site’s content for a while. However, I haven’t been contributing any original content. We got to thinking, why not jump in and contribute from time to time, and by doing so, give some more glimpses into our day-to-day lives, our lifestyles, work, play, beliefs and so on.
This will make some more content for the viewing, because, well, if you didn’t know this already, blogs live and die by their regular production of content. Plus, come on, we all know we like peeking into other’s lives and gleaning what we can. It’s fine; we all do it. If you, friends, started a blog like this, we’d subscribe in a heart-beat. You should do it!
Also, this should free Margo up to spend some more time crafting recipes. Mmhhhmmm!
Sharing more recipes she shall! She has so many recipes and food knowledge in that little head… It’s good. It’s real good. She also has plans to get a better rhythm of making, photographing, and sharing those. I’ll just leave it at this happy fact: Expect more recipes this year!
We’ll be making these recipes more filterable and searchable too.
I love them too.
Additionally, More Products!
Wait, more products? Yep!
You’ve probably seen that from time to time she’s dropped a link to this or that in her blog posts. However, the reality is that we get asked quite often, “Where do you buy [fill in the blank]?” Plus, we love good style, high quality, and yet, thriftiness!
So, we got to thinking, why don’t we just get more proactive in curating and sharing what we buy, why we buy it, how we decide it and all that good stuff.
So, We’re Launching A Shop!
If you’re going to curate and share your stuff, why not just create a shop to keep things all collected and indexed while you’re at it. It’s all the rage these days, right?
Truth is, we really enjoy other sites that do this; so we figure we’re going to give it a shot too. After all, if I have a friend who is using something and loving it enough to recommend it, I’m way more likely to just get that, or something from the same brand or supplier, than doing a bunch of research myself.
As you may know, we’re pretty thrifty. Yet, we’re kinda minimalist and thus into buying higher quality and longer lasting items when possible. We also refuse to buy anything we think is ugly, because, well, (1) we’re spoiled rotten Americans, and (2) we have to live with it every day. If you’re going to spend money on something, why not at least like looking at it and using it? Doesn’t seem like too much to expect.
Anyway, this gives us a fairly unique set of standards and ideals with our purchases. So, why not share!?
Some of you might like it. Some of you might not. We’ll see… But, if you do, then it’d be kind of you to use our links to purchase something because then we can get a little bit of an affiliate kick-back. A few cents for our efforts is always appreciated!
Go check it out and let us know what you think! We’ll keep adding to it in the weeks ahead!
Final Few Words On Things To Expect This Year
As you may know if you followed along with either of us in 2017, we spent almost the entire year doing a home purchase and complete home renovation.
We already wrote a post called “How We Purchased Our First House“, and over the last year we shared tons and tons of Instagram stories of photos and videos on our two personal accounts. Well, we figure we need to give a few walk-throughs and overviews of some of the final results. We’ll be doing that. We also may do a bit more talking about home ownership and such.
Would you be interested in the “whys” and “hows” of some of our renovations? Let us know if so.
The last update I’ll mention is that given all these new ideas we’ll be putting into place, as well as the growing amount of content on the site, we’ll be developing it a bit better for more searchable recipes, filterable categories of content, and other such niceties. So, as always, if you have any cool suggestions or things you’ve seen on other sites, we’d be glad to hear them!
Alright. Now, go hit up that subscribe box over there to make sure you get the updates and posts as they come out! We appreciate you and look forward to the days ahead!
